The biography:
Born in Prato (Tuscany) on October 17 1688, Domenico Zipoli was part of the choir of Prato Cathedral, where he started learning music with his choirmaster Ottavio Termini and later with Giovanni Francesco Beccatelli. In September 1707 he received from Cosimo III de’ Medici a monthly grant of six scudi so that he could study in Florence with the organist Giovanni Maria Casini. The following year, Zipoli took part in an oratorio directed by Orlandini, Sara in Egitto, composed together with Casini, Caldara, Gasparini and others for the Compagnia di S. Marco.
