The biography: Francesco Onofrio Manfredini was born in Pistoia in 1684. He studied violin in Bologna with Giuseppe Torelli and counterpoint with Giacomo Antonio Perti. In 1696, probably after the dissolution of the Chapel of San Petronio, Manfredini moved to Ferrara in order to work as first violin in the church of the Spirito Santo. Eight years later he left this work and went back to Bologna to work in the new orchestra of San Petronio.
