The biography:
Born in Pistoia, 11° October 1738, he began his musical studies under the guidance of his father who was the organist of the Church of the Holy Trinity and also the Church of St. Mary the Humble (Santissima Trinità Santa Maria dell’Umiltà). His brother Domenico, his elder by five years, had already studied music with good results, but the young Filippo Maria showed such extraordinary talent that his father decided to send him to study under Tommaso Giacomelli, the leading organist of his day in Pistoia.
